Umpires and Scorekeepers for the 2024 Season

Lefty Grove is looking for kids and adults that are interested in umpiring and scorekeeping for the 2024 season. This will be for the 6U, 8U, and 10U divisions only as the older divisions require Certified Umpires.

We are looking for assertive people as the umpire needs to control the game itself as well as the pace of the game.

We will provide training prior to the season as there are division specific rules. Pay for umpiring is $25 for the plate umpire, and $15 for the base umpire per game at each level.

Scorekeepers perform a couple duties. First and foremost, keeping score. They also speak on a microphone, calling out the score, number of outs, announcing batters, and who is "On Deck"

We will provide scorebook training prior to the season. Pay for scorekeeping is $15 per game at each level.

New for 2024 we will be running Double Headers on weeknights. First game starts at 5:15pm and runs until 6:45, second starts at 7pm and runs to 8:30pm

2024 Lefty Grove Baseball League

Registration for the 2024 Lefty Grove Baseball Season!

*** "League age" is determined by your player's age on April 30th, of the current season.

Division Placement: Children will be placed into divisions automatically, based on their age. The divisions are: 6U, 8U, 12U, 14U, and 17U.

Division Change Requests:

If you wish for your child to play up or down a division, you will need to register them for the standard division offered based on their league age.

After registration, you will need to email [email protected] to request a division change. However, any movement between divisions will require a board discussion with the appropriate division president and board approval. It is important to note that coaches do not control division changes, although they may be consulted.

Registration Deadlines:

Players registering before March 18th, 2024, will secure a spot on a team. Those registering after March 18th will be placed on a waitlist and added to a team if a spot becomes available.

Practice and Game Schedule:

Practices will begin after March 31st for players not on a High School baseball team.
Games will be scheduled Monday to Thursday starting in May.
Fridays and Saturdays will be available for make-up games.
Picture Day is scheduled for Saturday, June 1st.
All-Star Weekend and Division Tournaments will be scheduled after the regular season.

Division Descriptions:

6U Division: For 5- and 6-year-olds, emphasizing fundamentals with coach pitch.
8U Division: For 7- and 8-year-olds, focusing on fundamentals with coach pitch.
12U and 14U Divisions: Specific age groups for registration, with participation in the Firelands Inter-League.
17U Division: Registration is open, but it currently operates as a waitlist due to lack of interest. It will start later than other divisions to accommodate the completion of the High School baseball season.
